How to Install the OpenMeta Kodi Add-on as Your New Hub for Streaming Add-ons

The OpenMeta Kodi add-on will be your new "hub" that you use to search and browse content. No more hassle of switching Kodi streaming add-ons

The OpenMeta Kodi add-on is a fork of the popular MetalliQ add-on which has seen many forks in the past, like Chappa’ai, Mx-winG DS, etc.  OpenMeta brings the best of all the features of these add-ons, and it seems to have a lot more potential at being supported in the long-term.

Why Do I Need OpenMeta on Kodi?

Are you sick of changing your primary video stream add-on all the time?

These streaming video add-ons pop up and shut down all the time.  It’s such a problem, that I built a system to keep track of them.

But, it’s more than just uninstalling an old add-on and installing a new one, right?

If you make use of a skin’s home screen shortcuts and widgets (like I demonstrated for Aura and Titan Bingie Mode), then moving to a new video streaming add-on is a big hassle.  You don’t want to have to change out all of your home screen widgets every time your add-on goes down!

OpenMeta (and its predecessors) solve this problem by offering a centralized place for you to go to search and browse TV shows and movies.  They can be from public lists of content or from your lists in your Trakt.tv account.

When you find something you want to watch, and you select it, OpenMeta searches for that content across all of the supported streaming add-ons that you have installed.

So, basically, OpenMeta can be your new “hub” that you use to search and browse content.  If one of the add-ons goes down, it’s no big deal!  You just pick another one to be the player.

Never again will you find yourself switching between add-ons performing the same search over and over again just to see if one of the add-ons can find any links.  Perform your search once in OpenMeta and then select each add-on until you get links.

With this hub, you can set your home screen widgets once and shouldn’t have to mess with them again.

    1. I think this is supposed to be enabled through “program add-ons” then find “OPENINFO” which says, “Fork of the extended info script from Phil65” and looks like the most recent version is the 6.1.0.

      1. I too downloaded openinfo in programmes addons. Now i have both openmeta, and openinfo in all my apps, but after configuring i still cant get anything to play on them.Any idea why.

        1. Sorry for my delay in responding to this. Are you still having the problem and need help with deleting the keys? They are in the add-on’s settings. There’s a section for the API keys, and you just clear them out.
