If you know me, you know I’m a fan of Kodi (formerly XBMC). However, I have looked at other options out there and Plex is definitely another good option. In fact, a couple of my friends actually prefer Plex over Kodi/XBMC.
Well, good news, my friends… Plex is now available on Xbox One (and will actually be available on Xbox 360 soon).
Plex is a media player that is available on a ton of platforms which pulls its content typically from your own media storage. So if you have a big library of TV shows or movies on a home theater PC, instead of having to plug that into your TV, you can just install the Plex Media Server on it and then stream all of your video to just about any device.
Today, that list of supported devices just got a little bigger with the addition of the Xbox One. This is very good news for fans of Plex, or anyone researching their options in the area of home theater media browsing.
Plus, the interface of Plex on Xbox One looks very nice, sticking with the native Xbox One look and feel and bringing the poster art front and center for nice user experience.
Interested in trying it out? Well, according to the announcement on the Plex blog,…
You’ll need to install the latest Plex Pass preview release of the server (v0.9.10.3), available today, which includes support for these new apps, and a few other great new things.
