      I have tried to put something in “My Favorites” several times.  Each time I do it I get a message that states the item has been successfully added to My Favorites, however, when I later click on the “My Favorite” icon, there is nothing there.  What am I doing wrong?

      You have to be aware of which favorites you are working with.  For instance, Kodi has it’s own favorites that you can add from your library and browse from the home screen.  Meanwhile, add-ons like Genesis have their own favorites that you add from within their add-on and browse from the favorites page within their add-on.
       
      These separate concepts of favorites don’t talk to each other.  That’s why I don’t use Genesis favorites, but I merge them to my Kodi library instead.  https://kinkeadtech.com/2015/03/how-to-merge-kodi-streaming-add-ons-into-the-video-library/
