Has Android Wear survived the threat of the Apple Watch and maintained some dominance in the wearable technology market?
Is the Apple Watch truly a flop, or is Apple simply not living up to the world’s unrealistic expectations?
I feel like the hype that comes with any new Apple product launch is quite excessive. It didn’t help that we all had to wait years knowing that they were working on a watch. So much time had passed that the media hype for the Apple Watch was even higher.
My thoughts were always that Apple would make a beautiful and functional watch. However, I also knew that Apple could not beat Google at the game of utilizing big data to make our lives easier.
Google doesn’t cover up the fact that it collects vast amounts of data about you. But it provides value back to the user with a great experience that brings some of that information up when it thinks it would be useful to you. Google Now was the start of that kind of experience and Android Wear is a perfect platform that utilized those features so you can get the information you want at a quick glance to your wrist without even searching for it.
Meanwhile, Apple prides itself in data privacy and doesn’t get into the space that Google is in. While that makes many people comfortable, Apple’s experience lacks a certain amount of personalization and intelligence since it doesn’t have the wealth of big data that Google has.
Those are just some of my thoughts on the subject. I still like my Moto 360 running Android Wear and continue to recommend it to friends, family, co-workers, and readers like you.
