I tried Google Glass for a couple weeks, and then returned them.
They were cool and all, but only for the first couple days. After that, reality set in. I realized it had so many flaws that were deal-breakers. Here was my list of issues…
- Way too expensive
- Horrible battery life
- Can only sync to one Google account… I have Music All Access on one account and most of my hangouts/email on the other account
- A bit difficult to start using (you just have to try and figure out how it works)
- Feels like it strains my eyes to look so far up to see the screen… it’s not natural and also hard to see what’s in front of me as well.
- It freaks other people out when I wear it. Always have to take it off when I’m around people to not look like a “glasshole”.
But these reason alone were not quite enough for an early adopter and tech geek like me to send them back. What put me over the edge was the announcement of Android Wear.
With the Google watches powered by Android Wear coming out, I saw those as much better replacements for Google Glass. You see, I kind of liked the software of Glass, but just not the hardware… not on my face. But, on my wrist?! Now, we’re talking.
So long, Google Glass… Hello Android Wear.
