Make sure you don’t use the power button on the Fire Stick remote. That will put the Fire Stick to sleep which brings it back to the home screen. The solution should be to just turn off the TV yourself if the Fire Stick is plugged into an AV receiver, or you’d have to leave the TV on if the Fire Stick is plugged into the TV.
