Guest::I am using Kodi on the Amazon Fire TV stick and since the upgrade is available I get a reminder message when I launch Kodi. I’ve never done an upgrade before and naturally did some google searches to find out. I’m seeing some positive and negatives on the new version and was wondering what your thoughts are on the new version? Also do you have or are you planning to publish a “how to upgrade Kodi” guide for the stick. Last question, if I upgrade do I have to reconfigure all my settings or will they carry over.
I find your articles very helpful as I consider myself a novice, less than a year, to streaming TV and movie. Since moving to a new temporary location, I pay only for internet service and rely on Kodi for all TV programs and movies. So far I’ve been quite happy and enjoy not having to pay for cable service. When I am permanently settled I’m going to look at the VPN you suggested.
Thank you for your time and patience. -

Keymaster::It sounds like you already found my tutorial on How to Install Kodi on Amazon Fire TV Stick
You can simply follow those instructions again to install the latest version and it will essentially “update” it to that version. All your settings remain intact, except for some rare cases where an addon you had is not compatible with the latest version.
I haven’t had any issues like that, and I do much prefer that latest Kodi 17 over 16. The new default theme, Estuary, is pretty nice.
